The earthworks include house platforms, hollow ways, village closes, a pond and a moated site, the latter located immediately north of the farmhouse. It has been suggested that the moated site was a formal garden to the hall rather than a part of the village.
There are no known maps of the village prior to its desertion, nor any plans of the chapel or hall and consequently the earthworks and some excavation evidence from the southern field are the only indicators as to the layout of the settlement, and of the ridge and furrow field systems present in outlying areas.
The plan below was produced following survey and excavations in 1960.
